Ten found guilty of digital abuse targeting Brigitte Macron

A Paris court has found guilty ten people for engaging in the online harassment of Brigitte Macron, the wife of the President of France, Emmanuel Macron.
The those on trial faced accusations of spreading untruths regarding her gender identity and sexuality, in addition to making hurtful comments about the husband and wife's significant age difference.
The court delivered suspended prison sentences of as much as eight months to the convicted individuals. The complete verdict has yet to be released.
A circulating false narrative claiming that Brigitte Macron is a trans woman has existed since her husband's initial election in 2017.
This recent ruling in France comes as the Macrons engaging in a legal action for defamation in the US against right-wing influencer Candace Owens, who has repeatedly shared comparable unfounded claims about the first lady's gender.
Their complaint contends that Owens ignored any factual proof disproving her claim choosing instead to amplify the voices of notorious conspiracy peddlers.
Owens has frequently reiterated these claims on her show and social networks, and in March 2024 stated that she would risk all her credibility on her conviction that Mrs. Macron is in fact a man.
Brigitte Macron originally became acquainted with her current spouse when she was a teacher at his high school.
The couple tied the knot in 2007, when the man who would become president was 29 and she was approximately 54 years old.
