Around 25,000 homes in south-east Queensland were left without power on the start of the week after powerful weather events passed over the region, producing strong winds reaching over 100 km/h.

Large Frozen Precipitation and Extensive Damage

Locals reported large ice chunks reaching sizes of seven centimeters in some areas. Meteorological experts confirmed that different parts across Queensland had been affected by significant hail.

Victoria's Weather Woes

Meanwhile, around 1,000 households in Victoria also encountered power outages after the metropolitan area recorded its heaviest rainfall in over 500 days.

Emergency response teams handled 598 calls for help across the region, mainly for building damage but also for collapsed vegetation and water accumulation.

• Hoppers Crossing area - multiple assistance requests
• Wyndham - nearly 180 calls for assistance

At one point on Sunday, in excess of twenty-eight thousand power users in the state were experiencing outages.

Weather Forecast

Humid circumstances were predicted to continue along significant areas of the state's eastern regions this coming days as a weather pattern continued to pull in damp air against the shoreline.

Tomorrow was forecast to be the wettest day, with continued thunderstorm potential predicted across multiple regions of both states.

Medical Alert

Health officials alerted that there was an increased chance of thunderstorm-induced asthma across the state's northern country region, especially given the current weather patterns.
