Nineteen of Daniil Medvedev's 21 championships have been earned on hardcourt

A resurgent Daniil Medvedev secured his maiden title for nearly 30 months with success over Corentin Moutet in the competition title decider.

The Russian, a ex- top-ranked player, has had a difficult year, achieving just one match at the major tournaments and experiencing a setback at the New York tournament.

His varied form on the professional circuit - and issues with his serving in especial - led to him dropping out of the top ten and finally parting ways with long-time coach his previous coach.

Presently working with Johansson and Goetzke, Medvedev has consistently advanced in the past month - climaxing in a closely contested 7-5 4-6 6-3 victory over opponent Corentin Moutet.

This marks the player's first championship following the Rome competition and first on a hardcourt since spring of the previous year.

Success also indicates the Russian has won 21 victories at 21 different tournaments.

"For the first time I'm at a tournament with my two daughters simultaneously, so to get a title is especially meaningful," stated world number 14 Medvedev.

"This victory is in dedication of my child her name, because the first title I achieved when my older daughter her name was born was for her."

The athlete, the 2021 US Open champion, had lost his last six title deciders, featuring in Halle earlier this year.

The player's defensive play style and regular outbursts on the playing surface had led some to doubt if his capacity to play at the highest level was finished.

But the 29-year-old has altered his approach in the past month, making an effort to come to the net and compete assertively, supported by an better service.

The champion fought back from a break down in the first set against the difficult Moutet, taking four of the concluding five points to go ahead.

The pair traded breaks in the middle set before the challenger, attempting for his initial professional championship, gained dominance to push for a decider.

Moutet saved 4 initial break points in a tight third set before Medvedev broke to 15 to serve for the match.

Fittingly, Medvedev earned the title with a shot at the net area, with the Frenchman unable to control a shot after over two and a half hours.
